Thousands of people wrote personal notes after my husband's death, expressing condolences, reliving good memories and extolling Ray's virtues. He was tenderly remembered with many beautiful, heartfelt emotions shared by people who knew and loved him. Although I can't print all of them here, following are examples of the tremendous outpouring of thoughts and feelings I received.

From Organizations That Ray Supported

He was indeed God’s gift.

He was a true friend to all who came in contact with him.

His caring for the well being of people in need along with his great modesty, distinguished him as a most admirable human being.

I wonder if there are many people left in the world like Ray Tye.

I once read that “the decency of a society is measured by how it cares for its least powerful members.” Ray clearly made ours a much more decent society.

Mr. Tye helped us raise funds for our Iraq/Afghanistan veterans. His spontaneous offer to help so many will never be forgotten.

Ray was more than a good man. He had the brilliance to use his goodness in transformational ways.

Beginning in 1961 Mr. Tye was responsible for over 1,200 scholarships so young men and women could pursue their college and career goals. We hope these students will emulate Mr. Tye’s wonderful example of leadership, vision and kindness.

He has always been so kind and generous to families that are affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

Like other institutions, Holy Cross was the recipient of Ray’s generosity. Many of our students have benefitted from the revolving loan fund he established for financial aid.

We are happy that the Foundation will continue to operate from the Braintree Office as a way to keep Ray’s life work close and present among us.
